Defensive Linemen Plans Official Visit to AU

Terry Bell

Big defensive tackle Terry Bell talks about his interest in Auburn and recruiting in this report that features video highlights.

Lakeland, Fla.--In July when Terry Bell made an unofficial visit to check out the Auburn football program, the big defensive lineman said that he would return and that Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers would likely get one of his five official visits.

Bell, a 6-5, 297-pound senior at Teneroc High School, tells Inside the Auburn Tigers that is still the case.

"I am planning to be in Auburn this weekend for my first official visit," he says. "I am looking forward to it.

"I like Auburn and the coaches there," he says. "I also like the fact that it is a real football school. The fans really get into it there and are crazy about football."

Bell notes that his senior year got off to a good start, but adds he was only able to play in four games. "I am finished for the season because I had an injury (MCL)," he says.

Expected to be healed in a couple of months, the setback hasn't kept college coaches from recruiting him. Bell, who is also a standout offensive lineman, says that he has so many scholarship offers that he can't keep track of them.

"I really don't have a favorite right now," he says despite much speculation that Florida State is the team to beat. "I am going to take my visits and see what school I like."

Bell says he has been to games at Florida, Florida State and South Florida this season and each of those colleges are in the picture.

Describing himself as a student who makes "A's, B's and C's," he says that the academic part of the equation will figure into his decision along with a feel for the campus and the people there. He notes that on his first visit to Auburn he felt good about what he saw.

"It is a beautiful place and I really enjoyed my trip there," he says, adding that he got a chance to sit down and talk football with Auburn head coach Gene Chizik and members of his staff.

"I like Coach Chizik and I like Auburn's defensive line coach, Tracy Rocker. He is a straight-up guy."

With Auburn graduating senior defensive tackles Zach Clayton and Mike Blanc, adding help up front is a high priority for the Tigers in their 2012 signee class.
