Newton, who was named the Associated Press SEC Offensive Player of the Year on Monday, has been invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York City on Saturday when the winner will be announced.
Cam Newton has accounted for 49 touchdowns this season.
On Saturday in Atlanta the Tigers captured the SEC Championship with a 56-17 victory over South Carolina. Newton, who threw four touchdown passes and rushed for two more touchdowns, was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
"I'm very honored and blessed to be named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy with some other outstanding players," Newton said on Monday. "Like I've said this is not an individual honor, but a team honor. I wouldn't be in this position without my great teammates, coaches and the Auburn family.
"Since I was a young boy, playing the game of football has been a pure joy and this season has been a very special one for my teammates and for me," Newton added. "I know as a team we're excited to get back on the field on January 10 against a great Oregon team."
Auburn, which is 13-0 this year, will play undefeated Oregon, which is 12-0, in the BCS National Championship Game in Glendale, Ariz.
Fairley was in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday where he was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award won by Da'Quan Bowers of Clemson.
"It was a great experience," said Fairley. "There was a lot to do and they made it a lot of fun. It was also neat to be able to meet the other finalists and get to hang out with them a little bit.

"I want to congratulate Da'Quan Bowers," Fairley said. "He's a great player and deserved the award. It was just an honor to be nominated, and I had a good time."
Newton is one of three players in major college history to account for 20 rushing touchdowns and 20 passing touchdowns in the same season. He has the Auburn records for passing touchdowns in a season with 28 and rushing TDs with 20. His other touchdown was on a pass reception.
He has rushed for 1,409 yards this season, which is third in Auburn history and the most rushing yards for a quarterback in one season by any SEC player.
With 408 yards of total offense in the SEC Championship Game, he has a school record 3,998 yards this season and has scored a school-record 126 points.
