Small School Star Signs With Tigers
Position/Scout Ranking: Chris Landrum, 6-3, 221, Sweetwater, Ala., High, three stars, ranked as the No. 22 middle linebacker prospect in the country. Auburn's Main Competition: This was mainly an in-state battle with the talented athlete choosing the Tigers over the Crimson Tide of Alabama although out of state colleges such as Tennessee and Duke tried to recruit Landrum. Why Auburn Signed Him: With starting middle linebacker Josh Bynes graduating the Tigers have a need at the position for a guy with his combination of size, speed and all-around athletic ability. Worth Noting: Injured in the first game of his senior season, Landrum didn't return to game action until week 10 after surgery on a broken foot. In his team's 36-0 victory in the state championship game Landrum was named the Most Valuable Player after socring a touchdown offense, making nine tackles and recovering a fumble.
