The Auburn women's basketball picked up a conference road win on Sunday at Ole Miss.

Oxford, Miss.--Sophomore guard Camille Glymph scored 19 points, dished out six assists and added four rebounds as the Auburn women’s basketball team defeated Ole Miss 67-54 on Sunday.

Auburn improved to 11-11 overall and 3-6 in the SEC while Ole Miss dropped to 12-10 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

Auburn coach Nell Fortner said she liked the way Glymph played on Sunday at the Tad Smith Coliseum. “It was nice to see her knock down some of those shots and it just gave us some confidence,” she said. “You could see that immediately when the shots went down.”

Fortner said that she would like to see the guard shoot the ball more than she did vs. Ole Miss. “She had a lot more scoring opportunities and she was looking to pass it. She doesn’t need to give up shots when she has those opportunities.”

Glymph hit 6-11 field goals, 3-5 threes and was 4-4 at the foul line.

Fortner said that little-used center P.J. West contributed to the victory by playing good defense against six-foot-five Ole Miss center Nikki Byrd, who made just 2-7 field goals. Valencia McFarland led the Rebels with 15 points.

Tyrese Tanner scored 12 points for the Tigers while Blanche Alverson added 10 points. Senior guard Parrisha Simmons led Auburn in rebounds with 10.

Auburn hit 25-54 field goals for 46.3 percent and made 5-10 three-pointers plus 12-18 free throws.

The Rebels hit 17-52 field goals for 32.7 percent, 2-9 threes and 18-27 foul shots.

A big factor in the victory was the play of Auburn’s reserves. The Tigers outscored the Rebels 26-10 in points off the bench.

Auburn took control of the game in the first half, finishing the period with a 17-6 run to take a 10-point lead at halftime. Ole Miss was unable to make a run and seriously threaten the Tigers in the second half.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday night with a home game vs. Vanderbilt.
