Time Set For Auburn Spring Football Game

Coach Gene Chizik's football Tigers will open spring drills in late March.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn's annual A-Day spring football game will kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th.

Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers are tentatively scheduled to start spring drills on Friday, March 23rd and finish on Monday, April 16th.

Under NCAA rules, a maximum of 15 practice dates are allowed for spring training. The Tigers are also scheduled to practice March 24, 26th, 28th 30th and 31st along with April 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th.

Beginning his fourth season as head coach at Auburn, Chizik saw his Tigers finish the 2011 season with an 8-5 record that included a 43-24 Chick-fil-A Bowl victory over Virginia.

The Tigers return nine starters on defense from the bowl game including the team's leading tackler, Daren Bates. Offensively, the Tigers return seven starters from the bowl game including Emory Blake, the team's leading receiver.

Auburn will open the 2012 season at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta where they will play Clemson on Sept. 1st.
