Chizik Suspends Starting Center Dismukes

The Auburn football team's starting center, Reese Dismukes, has been suspended by the head coach.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn sophomore center Reese Dismukes, a Freshman All-SEC selection in 2011, has been arrested on a public intoxication charge and suspended from the squad by head coach Gene Chizik on Saturday.

"I am very disappointed in Reese Dismukes for his irresponsible behavior last night," Chizik said. "This kind of behavior will not be tolerated at Auburn and I have suspended Reese as a result of his actions."

According to Lee County Sheriff's Department records, Dismukes was arrested in the early morning hours on Saturday and has been released on a $300 bond.

Dismukes is the first team center and has more starts on the offensive line than any player on Coach Gene Chizik's football team.

Redshirt sophomore Tunde Fariyike entered preseason drills as the No. 2 center. Freshmen Alex Kozan and Shane Callahan have taken snaps at the position this preseason along with senior John Sullen, the returning starter at left guard who missed more than a week of practice with a back injury.

Chizik gave the players two days off from football and the team is scheduled to return to the practice field on Sunday evening to begin game week preparations for next Saturday's season opener vs. Clemson.
