The Yellow Jackets, who have limited four foes to single-digit scoring, have one regular season game remaining before they embark on what could be a deep playoff run.
"We've had a good year," Sam said. "Two of my biggest plays were big hits against South Lafourche and Acadiana.
"I had a big hit on a receiver on a swing pass against South Lafourche, and a big hit against Acadiana on special teams."
While Sam does splendid work at corner on the high school level, he sees a potential position change in college.
"I expect to move to strong safety one day," he said. "I like Auburn. I like the plays they run and what they do on offense and defense. I like everything about Auburn."
Sam excels in multiple sports.
"I play basketball and run track," he said. "I think I'll improve in football when I get to where I concentrate on only one sport."
For now, though, he's doing just fine in all three.
"I made it to the (Class 5A) state track meet in the javelin," said Sam, whose PR in the event is just shy of 180-0. "I finished seventh at state in the javelin, and I also compete in the long jump and triple jump.
"I was all-district and Best of the Teche in basketball. I probably averaged around 18 points per game."
Lewis talked about his teammate.
"Michael is a pure athlete who has good recovery speed," said Lewis, who holds an offer from Hawaii. "He's a super athlete. He's come along a lot since the summer. I can't wait until we get to play together as seniors."
