This week’s SEC football schedule includes the renewal of the league’s oldest rivalry when with the Georgia Bulldogs visit to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night. Around the country there are some good matchups on Saturday, but nothing out of the ordinary to get fans really excited as has been the case in recent weeks.
Here are this week games involving SEC teams:
Arkansas at South Carolina--The Gamecocks are playing at home and I just think overall they are the better football team. South Carolina has the pass rush to put a lot of pressure on Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson so I am going with the Gamecocks.
Missouri at Tennessee--I will go with the Vols at home to get their first SEC win, but this one could easily go the other way with Tennessee struggling on defense.
Louisiana-Lafayette at Florida--The Gators are having problems scoring, but should put enough points on the board to win again this week.
Texas A&M at Alabama--I think it will be a good game. One reason I believe that is because Texas A&M?is a little better on defense than people give them credit for. The Aggies are good at pressuring the quarterback and have a great young quarterback themselves in Johnny Manziel, but I think Alabama will win at home.
Vanderbilt at Ole Miss--This has the potential to be a good, competitive game. I am picking Vandy to come away with a road win.
Mississippi State at LSU--Even though LSU is coming off a loss that had to hurt I think with Zach Mettenberger coming around at quarterback LSU will be too tough for Mississippi State to handle.
Georgia at Auburn--Georgia played extremely well against Florida to give the Bulldogs the inside position for a run into the SEC Championship Game. I also thought Georgia played extremely well last week vs. Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs were having some problems with mis-alignments on defense early in the season, but they have come around now and have got their mojo going. They are making a lot of things happen on defense with a lot of talented players contributing.
I am looking forward to this game to see how well the Tigers fight against the Bulldogs for 60 minutes on Saturday night. Georgia is the heavy favorite and deserves to be. This series has a history of upsets, but I don’t see one happening this year.
In other games around the country:
Notre Dame at Boston College--Notre Dame hasn’t lost yet and there is no reason to expect that to change against an opponent the Irish should handle with ease.
Maryland at Clemson--Clemson is coming off a big offensive performance and should win without much problem against an opponent that has had major injury problems.
Northwestern at Michigan--Northwestern has a better record, but Michigan is at home and I will take the Wolverines to win a close one.
West Virginia at Oklahoma State--I’ll take Oklahoma State with the Mountaineers struggling on defense and coming into the game with a three-game losing streak.
Arizona State at Southern Cal--Both teams are struggling on defense. I am going with the Trojans to give the Sun Devils a fourth straight loss.
Oregon State at Stanford--Both teams are 5-1 in the Pac 12 chasing the unbeaten Oregon Ducks. Stanford should win this game prior to next week’s matchup vs. Oregon.
Iowa State at Texas--The Longhorns haven’t always looked real good, but they are 7-2 and should get another victory this week vs. the visitors from Iowa State.
Editor’s Note: Coach Dye was 8-0 on his week 10 SEC picks and 11-3 overall. For the season his record is 68-16 on SEC games and 105-30 overall.
