This is not the a particularly exciting week for college football matchups. That is true in the Southeastern Conference and around the country as whole. However, there are some potentially good games in week 12.
Here are this week’s matchups involving SEC teams:
Arkansas (4-6, 2-4 SEC) at Mississippi State (7-3, 3-3 SEC)--Mississippi State has given up at lot of points in the last three games and lost each of those. This week in Starkville I think the Bulldogs will end their losing streak and earn their eighth win.
Western Carolina (1-9) at Alabama (9-1)-Alabama will win in a no contest game.
Jacksonville State (6-4) at Florida (9-1)--Florida is struggling on offense, but should not have a big problem winning this week after a scare vs. Louisiana-LaFayette.
Wofford (8-2) at South Carolina (8-2)--This should be a tune-up win for the Gamecocks prior to next week’s rivalry showdown vs. Clemson.
Georgia Southern (8-2) at Georgia (9-1)--Georgia Southern will be fired up for the opportunity to play the Bulldogs, but the home team has way too much talent to lose to a lower division team, even a good one.
Ole Miss (5-5, 2-4 SEC) at LSU (8-2, 4-2 SEC)--The way Zach Mettenberger is playing for LSU his team is tougher to beat than it was earlier in the season. The home team should win this SEC West rivalry contest even though it is not a night when LSU seems to play its best football.
Sam Houston State (8-2) at Texas A&M (8-2)--The Aggies are on a roll and will keep that going this week as Johnny Manziel continues to play beyond his years.
Tennessee (4-6, 0-6 SEC) at Vanderbilt (6-4, 4-3 SEC)--The Vols have a more potent offense, but Vanderbilt has the better all-around team and is playing at home so I think the Commodores will win this game in Nashville.
Syracuse (5-5) at Missouri (5-5)--Syracuse is coming off a nice victory over Louisville, but I am picking the Tigers to win at home.
Samford (7-3) at Kentucky (1-9)--I am going to pick Coach Pat Sullivan and his Samford Bulldogs to pull off a victory in Lexington.
Alabama A&M (7-3) at Auburn (2-8)--I think Auburn has some good young talent and this should be an opportunity for players like quarterback Jonathan Wallace to gain experience while helping their teammates be able to enjoy a win on Senior Day.
In other games around the country:
North Carolina State (6-4) at Clemson (9-1)--Clemson should have too much offensive firepower for the Wolfpack.
Northwestern (7-3) at Michigan State (5-5)--This could be a very close game that Northwestern should find a way to win even though the Spartans are solid on defense.
Stanford (8-2) at Oregon (10-0)--I voted Oregon No. 1 in the Coaches Legend Poll this week and don’t see the Ducks losing this game even though Stanford is a very capable opponent.
Cal (3-8) at Oregon State (7-2)--The Bears are really struggling so Oregon State should pick up another victory this week.
Southern Cal (7-3) at UCLA (8-2)--I’m going to pick Southern Cal to win the cross-town rivalry in what should be a competitive game.
Texas Tech (7-3) at Oklahoma State (6-3)--Oklahoma State at home should be able to win against an opponent that isn’t playing as well as it was earlier this season.
Oklahoma (7-2) at West Virginia (5-4)--The Sooners should be able to take advantage of a West Virginia defense that has been giving up way too much yardage and too many points.
Editor’s Note: Coach Dye was 52 on his week 11 SEC picks and 12-2 overall. For the season his record is 73-18 on SEC games and 117-32 overall.
