Update: 2013 York LB/S Rominique Mobley
Rominique Mobley Profile In a little over 3 months from now high school seniors will be signing letters of intent on National Signing Day. One senior standout who is seeing his recruitment pick up as the days countdown towards Signing Day is 2013 York linebacker/safety Rominique Mobley. As part of one of the state's stingiest defenses Mobley has attracted the interest of quite a few programs lately. "I've got an offer from East Carolina already. I've been hearing a lot from North Carolina State, Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Auburn, and Charlotte a lot lately. There are a lot of other schools still recruiting me too but those are some of the latest ones who've been showing a lot of interest." Out of those schools Mobley says that North Carolina State is sending him letters everyday and is really showing him a lot of love. "I don't know where I want to go yet. I'm still open to everybody. I'm in the process of starting to set up some visits so I can see some of the schools." The York prospect says while he's open to all schools right now he'd love an opportunity to play in the SEC conference. His senior season saw Mobley dominate for the Cougars. He recalled his stats for us. "This year I had 128 tackles, 2 interceptions returned for touchdowns (125 yards), 6.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 fumbles caused, and 6 big hits." Most schools are looking at Mobley at outside linebacker but the York standout says he can also play at safety as well. "I can play at safety on the next level. I'll play wherever the coaches want me to but I'd like to play at safety. I went to the VTO Combine and played at safety there. I ended up winning the MVP award at safety there." Mobley also shared some of his testing stats in the weight room. "I've been hand timed at 4.4 seconds in the 40 yard dash and laser timed at 4.6 seconds. My bench press is 275 pounds, my squat 405 pounds, and my power clean is 265 pounds." The York standout says he's continuing to make strides in the classroom and fully expects to qualify according to his coach Bobby Carroll. He had some things to share with potential college coaches too. "I just want coaches to know that I'm a hard worker, that I want it really bad, and that I truly love the game!" Right now Mobley says he'll look closely at the possibility of early playing time, how well he gets along with the coaching staff, facilities, and how the coaches develop players in moving them to the NFL level.
