Logwood continues to garner attention
La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere small forward Sam Logwood has had a breakout junior season. The 6-foot-6 wing is one of the elite defenders in the country and recently showed that off in a matchup with Huntington (WV) Prep. Still Logwood is sitting on one BCS offer, but more schools are getting involved. In a win over Huntington, Logwood split time between guarding Andrew Wiggins and Xavier Rathan-Mays. For Logwood it was a chance to show how good he is on the defense end and he stepped up to the challenge. "It was a matchup I prepared myself for," said Logwood. "I wasn't going to play scared and back down. It was just a matter of trust and knowing the team had our back." Recruiting wise Logwood continues to garner more and more attention from high-major schools. "Auburn has offered, Michigan State, Mississippi State, and Xavier have been talking to me a lot," said Logwood. "I will probably make a visit to Michigan State when I get some free time." With Michigan State, the Spartans continue to show a good amount of interest, and Logwood likes the system they run in East Lansing. "I just their style of play, and also Gary Harris went there and I am close with him," said Logwood. "The coaches say they like athleticism and that I fit their style of play. It is some place I could see myself going." With Auburn they have offered and remain very interested, and Logwood continues to be interested in the SEC school. "Auburn was my first BCS offer and it meant a lot to me," said Logwood. "I want to make a visit down there as well. I am not too familiar with them right now, but they are on my list and I want to see their campus." Xavier has been very active in recruiting Logwood this season, and the Musketeers could be close to offering. "I have been talking to Coach (Travis) Steele for a long time," Logwood says. "I like him a lot, and he checks in on me to see how I am doing. Hopefully they offer me soon." For now there is no timetable or anything for a commitment, but Logwood does know what he will be looking for in a school. "I am looking for somewhere that I can play as a freshman and a place that fits my style of play of getting in transition and playing tough defense," said Logwood.
