One of the keys for the Tigers has been the improved offensive output from veterans Ryan Tella, Cullen Wacker, Garrett Cooper, and Dan Glevenyak. In the four games the group combined to go 27-67 (.402) with 13 runs scored and 15 runs batted in. That offensive attack with some power to go along with it showed this team is capable of making some noise in the league when clicking on all cylinders.
Auburn will have a chance to continue to make noise this weekend as the Tigers face the Georgia Bulldogs in a three-game series at Plainsman Park after a Wednesday night start against Alabama State. Georgia dropped a home series against Missouri over the weekend and is currently just 12-21 overall and 2-10 in league action.
Player of the Week: There are plenty of options this week with several players stepping up for the Tigers, but Ryan Tella was the true definition of the table-setter. Back in the leadoff spot, Tella was 8-19 with five runs scored and two RBI this week. Also worthy of mention was Garrett Cooper. The senior was 7-17 with six RBI and a pair of home runs for the Tigers.
Pitcher of the Week: The honor goes to junior pitcher Michael O'Neal after he won his sixth game of the season on Saturday against Texas A&M. Allowing just two earned runs on six hits in six innings, O'Neal continues to provide quality starts for the Auburn pitching staff.
Newcomer of the Week: Relief pitcher Terrance Dedrick came on to finish off Friday night's extra inning victory, allowing just one run on two hits in the final three and two/thirds innings. He earned his second win of the season with the performance.
