Football Tigers to Open Vs. Arkansas In 2014

Auburn announced its 2014 football schedule on Wednesday. The Tigers will play seven home games and make a road trip to Manhattan, Kansas.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn's 2014 football schedule will start with an August 30th home game vs. Arkansas, the first time the Tigers have opened a season facing a conference opponent since 1995 vs. Ole Miss.

Coach Gus Malzahn's Tigers will play seven home games, including their first-ever contest vs. San Jose State on Sept. 6th.

Other non-conference games are Sept. 20th at Kansas State, at home on Sept. 27th vs. Louisiana Tech and at home on Nov. 22nd vs. Samford. In Auburn's only previous game at Kansas State the 1978 Tigers, coached by Doug Barfield, won 45-32 vs. the Wildcats in Manhattan.

Auburn's two SEC East opponents are South Carolina, which will visit Jordan-Hare Stadium on Oct. 25th, and Georgia, which will renew the SEC's oldest rivalry with the Tigers on Nov. 15th at Sanford Stadium in Athens. South Carolina will be looking for its first win vs. the Tigers in a game played at Auburn.

In their last SEC opener 18 years ago the Tigers cruised to a 46-13 victory vs. Ole Miss on the way to an 8-4 record that included a 5-3 mark in league play.

The Tigers have a pair of open dates on Sept. 13th and Oct 18th.
