Georgia RB: Everything stood out on WSU trip
"I had a great time, the game was exciting, they took care of me before and after the game...it was all great."
Was there one thing in particular that stood out?
"Oh, that's a hard question... (long pause) I just got along with the coaches really well, they're all really smart coaches -- Mike Leach is a genius," said Boyd.
BOYD SAT DOWN with his potential future position coach -- WSU running backs coach Jim Mastro -- on Sunday before flying out.
"Coach Mastro is a great running backs coach, really smart. In the meeting he taught me some things I could take back to my team. I was really grateful for that and just the whole visit," said Boyd.
BOYD SAID HE was a little hesitant pre-visit given the distance but that didn't last long.
One of the big reasons why was because of his Cougar player host.
"At first I was a little iffy about that but when I got there, I felt like it was home. My host, Darryl Monroe, is from Orlando and we talked about that.
"He likes Washington State so much. And when he goes home for Christmas break, he can't wait to get back to Washington State," said Boyd.
BOYD CAME INTO the trip with WSU as his leader and he said things couldn't have gone any better. So the question naturally begs, what's his decision timetable?
"Washington State is definitely in the front but I still have some interest in other schools so I want to keep my options open...I'm not one of those guys who is going to commit and then decommit... so I'm going to wait a little longer and keep my options open," said Boyd.
Boyd, who has been clocked at 4.5 in the 40, has double-digit offers from both big and small schools, with Syracuse and Appalachian State among those on his radar. He said he has no more officials planned but might take some unofficials to nearby schools if he can fit them into his schedule.
BOYD RUSHED FOR a pair of touchdowns in Norcross High's win Friday night before traveling to Washington State. He's posted five touchdowns through four contests this season and is averaging 99 rushing hashes per game.
"I feel like I was born to play there," said Boyd of lining up at running back.
