We might be getting close to the stage of recruiting at which many of the prospects who haven't made a decision yet are going to wait until signing day or very close to it.
I am sure Gus Malzahn and his staff will have a good recruiting year, something that is necessary to keep up with the other top teams in the Southeastern Conference because it is a rare season when those teams don't recruit well.
One of the better football players in SEC history, Peyton Manning, led his Denver Broncos team to an impressive victory over New England on Sunday, earning a trip to the Super Bowl to play the Seattle Seahawks. To me the NFL?is boring compared to college football, but it was interesting to watch the game featuring Manning and another great quarterback, Tom Brady, who I also like to see direct an offense.
The Seahawks have a really good team with a great defense and a strong running game. If Seattle had either Manning or Brady at quarterback I think everybody else would be competing for second place.
As always there will be a lot of buildup in the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. Denver has an offense that has played very well, but its defense is suspect so I won't be surprised to see the Seahawks win even though the Broncos have a big advantage at quarterback with Manning leading the offense.
One of the best things about living in or near a great college town like Auburn is that there is always something to do. A lot of that involves sports and I have to say I enjoyed myself on Sunday watching the Kentucky at Auburn women's basketball game.
Auburn lost the game by two points to the No. 10 ranked Wildcats despite not having one of the team's best players available due to an injury. Auburn has a lot of young players on this year's team so I think its future is promising.
I love to watch women's basketball when a team like Auburn plays so hard trying to win the game. There wasn't one time that you could look out there on the court Sunday and see one of those players not competing at full speed.
I am looking forward to baseball season coming up to see what type of team Auburn's new coach puts on the field. In addition to basketball and baseball the equestrian, gymnastics, swimming along with the track and field teams are into their seasons so people who like college sports have an opportunity to see a lot of good competition around here throughout the year.
