Recently, Mike Hughes picked up a big SEC offer.

"Auburn was my latest offer," said the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Hughes. "They offered me last week. I wasn't expecting it at all. It's special, but you can't get big-headed."

Along with the Auburn, Hughes holds offers from Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida, Ole Miss, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, UNC-Charlotte, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

According to Hughes, he has no favorites at this time.

Several college coaches have stopped by New Bern recently.

"Ohio State, Auburn, ECU, N.C. State, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina have been by in the past few weeks," he said.

In regards to upcoming visits, Hughes is in the process of setting those up.

"We're not sure about trips yet," Hughes said. "I definitely want to make it to some junior days and take some other trips."

Hughes mentioned Alabama, Auburn and Georgia as possible summer visits.

The New Bern standout has a tentative timetable for his recruitment.

He has a tentative timetable for his decision.

"Hopefully, I'll narrow my list down really soon because I'm planning on graduating early and that speeds things up," he said. "I'm going to try to have a top five before the season starts.

"I'm going to take all five of my official visits. If I'm sure about where I want to be, I could make my decision during the season. But as of right now, I'll probably make it after the season."

There will be a few main factors that help him make his choice.

"The deciding things will be location – I want my mom to be able to come see me play," he said. Also, I want to play as a freshman and I want to go to a place where I feel at home."
