Tiger Tandem Fourth At U.S. Olympic Trials

St. Peters, Mo.--A pair of Auburn divers finished fourth in the synchronized platform diving competition at the 2004 United States Olympic Team Diving Trials.

Caesar Garcia, the 2004 NCAA champion in platform diving, and Matt Bricker took fourth with a score of 620.94. Mark Ruiz, a 2000 Olympian, and Kyle Prandi scored a 703.98 to win the event.

Garcia will have a chance to make the U.S. team in the platform diving on Saturday. He was the leader of the prelims in the event that also features Auburn teammate Steve Segerlin.

Bricker is not finished yet in the competition. He will be in the three-meter springboard event on Friday night.

Garcia finished the the preliminaries as the top qualifier on the platform with a score of 647.25. Thomas Finchum with a total of 620.13 is in second. Segerlin is in ninth place with a total of 528.72 for 10 dives.

Garcia, Bricker and Segerlin were all part of Auburn's 2004 NCAA Championship men's swimming and diving team.
