Eric Norwood is a defensive line prospect from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia. Last fall the 6’2 and 251 pounder racked up 77 tackles, 7 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 6 pass deflections. The big man participated in Auburn’s Senior Mini-Camp and came home satisfied.
“It went really good,” said
Eric Norwood
. “The coaches are great. I didn’t really get a chance to meet Coach Tuberville. I talked to Coach Dunn a lot though. The competition was great. There were a lot of blue chip players there. It was a great turnout. I received a full scholarship offer after the camp.”
Auburn
is alone at the top of Norwood’s list.
“Auburn has been my leader since the beginning. I had them on top before I got an offer from them.
Boston College
,
Arkansas
,
LSU
, and
North Carolina
are all together at second. All the schools have offered except LSU.”
What does Norwood like about Auburn?
“I like the city of Auburn. I like the fans, too. The coaches are great. I like everything about it. They have a clean program.”
Norwood attended Auburn’s passing camp a few weeks ago. He has one more summer camp in mind.
“I’m supposed to go to Arkansas next weekend. We have to report to our team camp on the 24th so I’ll probably be done with camps after next weekend.”
The Oakland, California native also competes in track for North Cobb.
“I throw the discus and the shot put. I also Long Jump. I finished fifth at our region championship. I threw 47’5. My best throw is a 49’8.”
With thirteen offers in hand, Norwood will certainly have options. Will it be Auburn in the end?
Scott Kennedy's Scout Report:
Norwood has the quickness of a linebacker and the size of a defensive lineman. He has the size to eventually play inside, but his immediate future would be at defensive end. He bounces around and through blockers. He has the strength to control blockers at the line of scrimmage, and the quickness to split a double team.
There's no doubt in my mind he slept well after this game against Osborne. He broke through the line of scrimmage at least a dozen time in pursuit of a small, quick quarterback. He got his hands on him more than once though and was a disruptive force on nearly every snap.
