Birmingham, Ala.--Auburn’s leading hitter for the 2006 season, freshman Mike Bianucci, was named a first team All-SEC selection by the league’s coaches.

Bianucci, who was selected as the team’s designated hitter, was also chosen for the All-SEC Freshman Team along with Auburn’s Luke Greinke.

Bianucci hit .359 with eight home runs, 31 RBI and a .564 slugging percentage. He has been invited to the trials for USA Baseball’s National Team.

He is the first Auburn freshman to be named to the All-SEC team since Todd Faulkner was voted the designated hitter in 1998.
