"Joe Cope sustained a sprained knee and is out 4-6 weeks," head coach Tommy Tuberville says. "We hope to get him back midway through the end of the season. He gave a courageous effort the other night playing two and a half quarters with a turned knee. We gave him offensive MVP for his valiant effort."
As Cope's replacement, Tuberville says that back-up center Jason Bosley, starting left guard Ben Grubbs and staring right tackle Jonathan Palmer will all have a chance at the position. If Grubbs or Palmer is moved to center then junior Leon Hart would step into the starting line-up.
When Joe Cope was injured last season against Alabama, Palmer became the starting center.
