Mike Bianucci, a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American following the 2006 campaign, has already been placed on the Wallace Watch List
this preseason following his stellar freshman campaign in which he hit a team-best .359 while also hitting eight home runs and driving in 31 RBI. Last season he split time between third base and designated hitter for the Tigers and was voted First Team All-SEC at the conclusion of the
year.
For Josh Donaldson it marks his first national recognition this season. He too had a very impressive 2006, leading the Tigers in home
runs (10) while also driving in 42 runs, which was second on the team. After spending his freshman season as the everyday third baseman for the Tigers, he split time between the hot corner and catcher last season and was selected as a Cape Cod League All-Star this past summer after hitting .302, fifth best in the league, with 11 doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI while also scoring a team-leading 23 for the Harwich
Mariners.
Donaldson can play several different positions for the Tigers including catcher and third base.
Both Tigers were selected to the third team, Donaldson as a catcher and Bianucci as an outfielder.
The Tigers, who are entering their third season under the direction of head coach Tom Slater, open the season on Friday, Feb. 9,
at 3 p.m. CT against Hofstra at Plainsman Park.
