One of Alabama's top players talks about his recruitment and which school leads for his services.

McCalla, Ala.--Sometimes certain players become hot during the recruiting process and all of the sudden they see their interest go from lukewarm to boiling in a matter of days. That appears to be the case with McAdory standout Marcus Jemison.

A talented quarterback and safety for the Yellow Jackets, the 6-2, 190 Jemison got his first offer from Arkansas back in February but since then things have trickled by as Mississippi State came on board followed by Clemson. Things remained at three until recently as one of Jemison’s favorites came on board with an offer after he performed well at a summer camp.

“I’m hearing from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Arkansas, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State and Houston at the moment,” Jemison says. “I have four offers. They are from Mississippi State, Arkansas, Clemson and Auburn. I got my offer from Auburn just after camp.

”They stand in a good spot for me,” Jemison adds about Auburn. “I don’t know much about them really. I know they have a good program. I like the way they do things down there.”

Jemison is a standout on both sides of the ball for a Yellow Jacket team that should be one of the teams to beat this season.

Playing both ways for McAdory each of the last two years, Jemison had a strong junior season as the Yellow Jackets finished the year 10-2 with the losses coming to Chilton County and to St. Paul’s 38-31 in the second round of the Class 5A Playoffs. From his safety position Jemison picked off six passes and made over 40 tackles. Offensively he added over 500 yards rushing in the powerful ground attack for McAdory and 10 total touchdowns.

Already this summer Jemison has attended camps at both Auburn and Alabama. He says both were good experiences and he particularly enjoyed getting a chance to see more of the Auburn campus.

“I liked it down there a lot,” Jemison says. “I learned a lot at their camp. I liked Coach (Will) Muschamp. He’s got high intensity and I like that. He’s hyped up on the field.”

In addition to those two trips, Jemison says he’s planning to camp at Arkansas as well as LSU. While those trips will help him get a better feel for the schools on his list, he says he plans to take his time before making a final decision. One thing is clear though and that is Auburn will be a school to watch as his choices begin to narrow down because Jemison says at the moment the Tigers are the team to beat.

”They are standing good right now,” Jemison says. “They are at the top.”
