Four players are not expected to return to the team for the 2008 season…
Auburn Football Practice Notes--Day 3
The morning session featured mostly freshmen and other young players while the evening practice was mostly veteran players. *Bryant Miller, a redshirt freshman from Miami, Fla., moved from defensive end inside to defensive tackle and lined up some today at noseguard at the morning practice. Miller got a lot of work in today--so much that he cramped and had to leave practice early. Bryant Miller runs a drill at Saturday's practice. *The morning session was by far the toughest conditions so far this year with a lot of humidity and not much breeze. Even Josh Bynes, the freshman linebacker from Fort Lauderdale, says it was very hot to him and he is used to playing football in heat and humidity. *Defensive end prospect Cameron Henderson, 6-6, 220 pounds from Shades Valley High School, was a visitor to Auburn's practice on Saturday. He has a scholarship offer from Auburn and there is a solid chance that he will announce that he is going to chose the Tigers over Arkansas and Mississippi State. Look for his announcement to come on Sunday. *Freshman center Ryan Pugh looked good at the Saturday morning practice today with his dad, a high school coach, watching the action. *Former Tiger All-American Quentin Riggins watched the morning practice and notes that he is impressed with the caliber of athletes Tommy Tuberville and his staff are bringing into the program. The new offensive line group got his attention. (Riggins will be a featured guest throughout football season on the Thursday edition of Inside the Auburn Tigers Radio.) *Running backs Mario Fannin and Tristan Davis broke off long runs in the team session on Saturday evening, but for the most part were held in check by the defense. The passing game wasn't much better as the quarterbacks got little time to throw the ball with Josh Thompson and Quentin Groves both in the backfield on more than one occasion. The biggest pass play came on a great catch by Tommy Trott when he went behind the defender to make the play. Ryan Shoemaker was doing a good job directional punting in the evening practice. He was being told what part of the field to punt the ball to and he was consistently on target. *So far the kickers have been steady and there hasn't been any live kicking with a pass rush. When that happens a pecking order should soon develop. *Tray Blackmon continues to look at home at his new position, middle linebacker.
