Auburn offensive lineman Tyronne Green has been honored by the SEC.

Auburn, Ala.--Junior Tyronne Green has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Offensive Lineman of the Week for his play in Auburn’s 35-7 victory over Vanderbilt.

The first year starter finished the game with an overall grade of 92 percent and scored a 103 on his assignment grade from offensive line coach Hugh Nall. Green played 59 snaps.

Green says he and his offensive teammates had a lot of fun in the victory over Vandy, particularly on the big plays early in the game that set the tone.

“A big play gets me fired up,” he tells Inside the Auburn Tigers. “It helps momentum-wise for the series and for the whole game.”

Green notes he was disappointed to see the leader of the offensive line, junior center Jason Bosley, have to leave the game in the second quarter with a knee injury. Bosley’s status for this week’s game is still to be determined, Coach Tommy Tuberville says.

With Bosley out, freshman Ryan Pugh moved from left tackle to center and did a good job there, Green says.

Senior King Dunlap, who hadn’t played since injuring an elbow in the first half of game three, took over at left tackle.

“I was joking with King, asking him if he remembered the plays,” Green says. “It felt good having King back out there. I just want to win games, play ball and work together to get it done.”

Green is the fifth Auburn player to be recognized with an SEC player of the week honor this year. Last week, Jerraud Powers was the Defensive Player of the Week and Wes Byrum was the Special Teams Player of the Week following Auburn’s victory at Florida. Punter Patrick Tatum earned the Special Teams Player of the Week award following the New Mexico State game, and Quentin Groves was named Defensive Lineman of the Week following Auburn’s season-opening victory over Kansas State.

The Tigers, who are 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the SEC, return to action on Saturday at Arkansas. The game is set for a 6:45 p.m. start with television coverage on ESPN.
