Directing the Tiger offense in 1987, the native of Cedartown, Ga., led the Tigers to the Southeastern Conference title that season while earning all-conference honors. Burger, who played for the Tigers from 1984-87, passed for 4,082 yards, which is the ninth highest total in Auburn history.
Burger’s 61.5 percent career completion percentage is the second best all-time for an Auburn quarterback with a minimum of 150 attempts. Burger is fourth on Auburn’s career passing efficiency rating with an average of 132.17. His average of 7.587 yards per pass attempt is sixth in AU history. He was a member of AU teams that posted a 4-1 mark against Georgia including a 3-0 mark in games played in Athens.
In 1987, Burger passed for 206.6 yards per game, which is the seventh best single season average for an AU player. His 63.1 completion percentage that season is third on the all-time Auburn list.
