Per NCAA rules, teams are allowed to schedule 12 games between the weekends of Aug. 30 and Nov. 29. With the Iron Bowl played after Thanksgiving for the second consecutive year, Auburn will have two off weeks during the season.
With the current 5-1-2 rotation in the SEC where each team plays every team in its division and one traditional rival from the opposing division, which is Georgia for Auburn, Florida drops off the schedule and Auburn picks up Tennessee. Vanderbilt traveled to Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2007, so the Tigers travel to Nashville for the 2008 game with the Commodores.
Auburn owns a 6-0 series lead over Louisiana-Monroe with the last meeting a 31-0 season-opening victory in 2004. The Tigers last meeting with Southern Miss was a 35-24 victory in 1993. Auburn leads that series 16-5.
A Sept. 6 game against West Virginia in Morgantown marks the first ever meeting between the Tigers and Mountaineers. It will also be the Tigers’ first ever game against UT-Martin.
