Two Auburn tennis players have been honored by the Southeastern Conferece.

Birmingham, Ala.--The conference announced on Wednesday that Auburn sophomore Fani Chifchieva has been named Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year.

Named AU's first women's tennis All-American last season, the hard-hitting Chifchieva is 21-2 in singles play for Coach Tim Gray's team.

“This is an unbelievable honor for Fani,” said Gray. “She has quite the string of firsts for Auburn and I’m sure more accolades will follow. I am very proud of her.”

The sophomore, who is ranked No. 17 nationally in singles, is joined on the All-SEC team by teammate Alex Haney as a first team All-SEC pick. Haney is 18-5 in singles play.

Auburn is host for the SEC Women's Tennis Tournament that will start at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Auburn opens play at 2 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center on Thursday vs. South Carolina.
