Auburn lost three out of four games this past week and the Tigers now find themselves on the outside looking in for a SEC Tournament berth. | |||

It was a long week for the Auburn Tigers as a mid-week loss to South Alabama and losing two of three on the road at Vanderbilt has the team reeling heading into a huge series this coming weekend at Alabama. Still very much in the race for not only a SEC Tournament berth, but also the Western Division just three games behind leading Ole Miss, Auburn will have to play much better in the coming weeks to have any hope of postseason play. Not much to be excited about from last week’s play as the Tigers scored just 14 runs in four games and gave up 27. After winning three consecutive SEC series to get back in the hunt in the league, Auburn has now lost five of six and is in desperate need of a big weekend in Tuscaloosa beginning Friday night. Offensive Player of the Week: Not much to choose from this week as Auburn struggled at the plate. Hunter Morris again gets the nod as he was 4-15, but was 4-11 against Vanderbilt with a pair of home runs and three RBI. David Cunningham gets a nod as well with five hits on the week. Pitcher of the Week: This one is much easier as redshirt freshman Grant Dayton was outstanding against a powerful Vanderbilt offense on Friday night. Going six innings Dayton allowed just three earned runs on nine hits and didn’t walk a better as he improved to 5-1 on the season.
