AU's Gangloff Makes U.S. Olympic Team

Omaha, Neb.--Former Tiger All-American Mark Gangloff became the first Auburn swimmer to earn a spot on the United States Olympic Team as he finished second in the 100-meter breaststroke on Monday night.

Gangloff posted a time of 1:00.42 to finish second in the event behind Brendan Hansen, who swam 59.93. Gangloff earned a gold medal in 2004 at the Olympics in Athens by swimming the breaststroke leg on the 400-meter medley relay.

The top two competitors in each event will compete for the U.S. team in China.

Another former Auburn swimmer, Eric Shanteau, finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:00.72.
