The Southeastern Conference honored Auburn senior Jason Bosley with one of its weekly awards.

Auburn, Ala.--Teammates on the Auburn offense like to talk about how smart senior Jason Bosley is.

On Saturday, in Auburn’s 27-13 victory over Southern Miss, Bosley showed what a quick learner he is by being named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after making the move to right tackle on Wednesday before Saturday’s game.

Bosley played in 70 offensive snaps for the Tigers and had the top grade of any of Coach Hugh Nall’s offensive lineman with a grade of 94 percent.

With a sore shoulder that prevented him from snapping the football as accurately as he wanted, Bosley switched positions in the starting lineup with right tackle Ryan Pugh, who also is Auburn’s number two center.

Both players had good games. Bosley was credited with five “rodeo blocks” and two “cockroach blocks” for the Tigers and noted that he was excited with how he performed for his first time to play tackle since he was a high school standout at Grissom in Huntsville.

“It was the first time I played tackle since my freshman year in high school,” he says. “It is a lot different going from center to tackle. I thought I played well. I still have a lot of things I have to work on as far as my technique and just getting comfortable out there, but for the most part I thought I did good.”

Offensive coordinator Tony Franklin says that he was pleased how the offense worked with Bosley at tackle and Pugh at center so that is how the Tigers are expected to line for Saturday’s 6 p.m. SEC opener at Mississippi State.

Pugh graded 89 vs. Southern Miss with six rodeo blocks, three cockroach blocks and two pancakes.

Left tackle Lee Ziemba had a grade of 92 for the Tigers with nine cockroach blocks, three pancakes and 12 rodeo blocks. “I wasn’t surprised at all that Jason played well,” Ziemba says. “As the center he knows what everybody is supposed to do and he is such a smart player who we all respect.”

Guard Tyronne Green graded 91 with 10 rodeo blocks, four pancakes and three cockroach blocks. Guard Byron Isom graded 83 percent with 10 rodeo blocks.
