Auburn, Ala.--Auburn junior Antonio Coleman has been named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his play in his team’s 14-12 victory over Tennessee.
The 6-2, 255 end from Mobile added a sack, giving him four for the season and the SEC lead in that statistic. He finished with four tackles with 1 1/2 for lost yardage.
Coleman has been a major reason why the Tigers are ranked fifth nationally in scoring defense.
Against Tennessee the defensive end helped the Tigers limit the Vols to 191 total yards, the fewest by UT vs. the Tigers since gaining just 175 vs. Auburn’s outstanding 1988 defensive squad.
"We have got a better taste in our mouths than we had after last week," Coleman said after his team's fourth consecutive win the series vs. Tennessee. "The main focus of the last week of practice was to come out, line up right and play fast."
Auburn, 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the SEC, plays a conference road game on Saturday at Vanderbilt. Kickoff is set for shortly after 5 p.m. CDT from sold out Vanderbilt Stadium where Auburn hasn’t lost to Vanderbilt since Harry Truman was president of the United States 68 years ago.
The Tigers defeated Vandy 35-7 last season at Jordan-Hare Stadium as the Auburn defense limited the Commodores to 221 total yards, including just 66 in the first half as AU took a 28-0 halftime lead.
