Auburn, Ala.--Sen’Derrick Marks, a preseason All-American, has been added to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is presented annually to the top defensive player in college football.
The Maxwell Football Club announced that Marks, who leads the SEC with eight tackles for lost yardage, joins teammate Antonio Coleman on the watch list.
Marks, who has been in on 28 tackles in six games for the Auburn Tigers, has two quarterback sacks. His 28 career tackles for lost yardage are the most of any active SEC football player.
Marks suffered an ankle sprain in last Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt. His playing status for this week’s home game vs. Arkansas is still to be determined.
Semi-finalists for the award will be announced in November and three finalists will be announced on Nov. 25th. The Winner be announced in December on the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show and the formal presentation of the award will be made March 6th at the Maxwell Football Club Gala in Atlantic City.
