Smalley’s No. 5 jersey will be retired between the varsity girls and boys games at approximately 7:30 p.m. at Arab High.
“I am going to head home after class on Friday,” Smalley tells Inside the Auburn Tigers. “They are having like a chili supper and I will go to that and then they will retire the jersey later that night.”
Smalley averaged 21.2 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.9 steals as a senior. A two-time All-State player and a two-time member of the Alabama Sportswriters Association Super Five, she is the all-time leading scorer in Arab High history with 3,107 points.
“It’s a great honor and I am really excited about it,” Smalley says. “I am looking forward to going home.”
Smalley averaged 10.7 points per game as she earned All-SEC Freshman honors. She is averaging 12.9 points per game this season for Coach Nell Fortner’s Tigers, who are ranked No. 6 nationally going into their next game on Sunday at Arkansas.
