First Visit To Auburn Enjoyable For Eargle
Lackawanna, Pa.--A prospect who plays quarterback in junior college but is being recruited by Auburn as a defensive back took his first trip to Alabama over the weekend to visit the Auburn program. Michael Eargle says that he had a good time and is now just waiting to see what happens and whether or not he'll get an offer from the Tigers. "I enjoyed myself," Eargle says. "I like the Southern hot weather. It's better than the North. I have been other places in the South for basketball, but I enjoyed it a lot. "I enjoyed it," he adds. "I wish I could come back and play. As of right now one (an offer) hasn't verbally been given to me yet. They said something would work out." Being recruited by Auburn defensive coordinator Ted Roof while he was at Minnesota, Eargle says that he began to get interest from the Tigers last week and decided to visit to check things out. "I received interest from Minnesota from Coach Butler, but Ted Roof came to Minnesota and saw my highlights and decided to give me a call," Eargle says. "I don't really know much about Auburn, but I saw them on TV a couple of times." A quarterback at Lackawanna College, the 6-0, 170 Eargle says most schools are recruiting him as an athlete, but Auburn is looking at him strictly on one side of the ball. "He (Roof) likes me on defense," Eargle says. "He likes me on defense after watching me on tape." In addition to Auburn, Eargle says he is hearing from Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Miami (Ohio) and a few I-AA schools. He notes though that if the Tigers come through with an offer the decision would be over. "If I receive an offer I would sign with Auburn," he notes. "I would sign on the line."
