Dixon Has Five-Star Visit to Auburn

Scout's number four rated safety prospect in the nation discusses his trip to check out the Auburn Tigers.

Auburn, Ala.--Scout five-star safety Ahmad Dixon visited Auburn's one-day football camp and liked it so much he decided to stay for an extra day.

Dixon, who is from Midway High School in Waco, Tex., is verbally committed to the hometown Baylor Bears, but says he really enjoyed his visit to Auburn.

"I like the coaches and the people," he says. "I also got a chance to meet some of the players and they are really cool. I like the weather, too."

Dixon arrived on Friday and spent time with the Auburn coaches and then watched, but didn't participate, in the camp that ran from Saturday morning until late Saturday afternoon.

"I decided to stay overnight on Saturday, too, and I will be leaving in the morning to go to the LSU camp on Monday," he says.

How did the safety from Texas develop an interest in the Tigers?

"Trovon Reed and Lache Seastrunk were telling me about Auburn when I went to a seven-on-seven camp with them and I was thinking, ‘Man, I want to see it for myself.' You can believe what people say, but there is nothing like seeing it for yourself. I did and it was everything I was told."

Dixon says Reed, Seastrunk, Shaun Lewis and Tony Hurd Jr. discussed playing together at the same college. "It looks like we might have an opportunity to do that," the safety says.

Coach Curtis Luper is recruiting Dixon for the Tigers. "He is a real, real nice guy," the safety says. "I actually got to know him when he was recruiting me when he was at Oklahoma State. I got to meet all of the coaches at Auburn and I really like them. It is like a big family."

Dixon says he is also interested in three other SEC schools--Alabama, Florida and LSU--and doesn't appear to be in a hurry to make a decision.

The five-star prospect says he will talk to his parents about the possibility of playing at Auburn and says he plans to return this fall. "I will come back and watch a couple of games and I will probably take an official visit," he says.

Commenting on making the long drive to Auburn to check out the SEC program, Dixon says, "You only live once so you might as well go see what the world has to offer.

""I loved the visit. It was awesome. It was just like being at back home."
