Sweet Water's Chris Landrum talks about getting a visit from the Tiger Prowl on Tuesday.

Sweet Water, Ala.--The second annual Tiger Prowl started on Monday in the Mobile area and on Tuesday it was Central Alabama for the Auburn coaches. One of the schools on the list was Sweet Water High, the home of talented linebacker Chris Landrum.

A talented player that is looking at both Auburn and Alabama, Landrum said that when the Auburn coaches pulled up to the school this afternoon it was an exciting time for the students and everyone in the building. Although he couldn't talk to the coaches, he said it didn't make it any less exciting for him.

“Everybody got real excited,” Landrum said. “I knew they were coming over though. It just shows that they love their players and they’ll take time out to do things for them and Auburn.”

A 6-3, 210 linebacker with good enough speed to play tailback for the powerhouse Bulldogs, Landrum totaled 68 tackles and 12 sacks on defense while adding 947 rushing yards. Those kinds of numbers make him a fascinating prospect because of his athleticism and versatility.

Auburn has made a very favorable impression on Landrum since offering early in the spring. Since then he’s made several trips to the Plains to check things out. None of those made as big of an impression on him though as Tuesday’s Tiger Prowl visit did.

“It was real good,” Landrum said. “It showed me that they’re really interested. It means a lot to me. It shows me that they care about me.

“It just means a lot,” he added. “It shows they are for real about me.”

With his baseball season complete after his team was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs last weekend, Landrum said he’s now concentrating on getting ready for his senior year and helping to lead Sweet Water back to the top of the 1A rankings.

First comes the summer time when players usually spend a great amount of time visitings campuses and touring schools. With just two schools on his list and very familiar with both, Landrum said he hasn’t decided what his plans are for the summer just yet.

“I’m not sure about any camps or anything just yet,” Landrum said. “I’ll probably go to some, but I’m not sure which ones right now.”
