A talented prospect for the 2012 women's basketball signee class discusses her camp experience at Auburn.

Columbia, S.C.--One of the top young basketball prospects in the state of South Carolina was a standout performer at Coach Nell Fortner's Elite Camp last week.

Asia Dozier, a 5-11 guard/small forward from Spring Valley High School, says she picked up a scholarship offer from the Auburn coach after performing well at the Auburn camp to go with previous early offers from South Carolina, Alabama and Murray State.

Dozier notes that she is excited to get the early offers and has an interest in the Tigers. "Coach Fortner is an awesome coach," the rising junior says.

Dozier has been a star on her high school varsity team since her eighth grade season at Heathwood Hall when she averaged 20.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.0 steals per contest. She transferred to Spring Valley as a ninth grader and helped that team post a 27-1 record on the way to winning the state championship.

"Last season we lost in the state championship game and it was a heartbreaker," says Dozier, who notes that loss is a major motivator for her team this coming season.

Dozier notes that her trip to Auburn for the camp was a good one. "I?learned a lot on how to come off of ball screens and I learned a lot of defensive techniques," the guard says.

An honor student, Dozier says that she is still checking out the college landscape and is in no hurry to make a choice. "I have some offers, but I am still visiting colleges and trying to build a relationship with the coaches."

College coaches will be checking her out throughout the summer as she plays AAU basketball for the South Carolina 76ers.

Commenting on her trip to Auburn, Dozier says, "The dorms are very nice. I love the campus. It is very comfortable and everything is in walking distance.

"The facilities are very beautiful," she adds. "The basketball arena is different. It is not like the typical facility. I saw a lot of things that I haven't seen in other arenas."
