| He's arguably the most physically gifted quarterback in the state of Florida this year for the Class of 2009. He's 6-4, has a big arm, and has a real nice release. He's gotten a lot more comfortable in the pocket this season as a senior as well. He still needs to work on his throwing motion and he's missed games due to suspensions in the past but there's no debating that Smith's a big time talent. -- Mike Bakas |

During Smith's senior season that led his team to the state 6A semi-finals he completed 205 of 338 passes for 3,089 yards and 30 touchdowns and rushed for over 300 yards.
Smith beat out a lot of competition to become the 6A player of the year and a finalist for 2008 Mr. Football and 6A FSWA First Team All-State. He was named Parade All-American, The Sun Sentinel's Player of the year, and First Team All Broward County in the Miami Herald, Orlando Sentinel All-Southern Team (FL), Mobile Press Register Super Southeast 120. He was also selected for the Offense-Defense All-Star game post season.
Eugene Smith passed for 2,200 yards 25 touchdowns and three interceptions as a junior and was named Second Team All-State QB. He was also named Second Team All-Broward County as an athlete for 2007. Smith benches 215-pounds and squats 355.
Smith says he wants to major in business or finance and reports a 2.8 core GPA and 1390 SAT.
Smith: "I have a lot of poise and I'm smart on the field. I'm a leader and make good decisions. I'm a great pro-style quarterback.
"I want to improve on dropping back and work on my pocket presence. I also want to improve my movement and footwork."
