Tigers Pound Vols 13-4 To Clinch SEC Berth
Knoxville, Tenn.--Tony Caldwell had three hits including a grand slam as Auburn pounded out 18 hits in a 13-4 win over Tennessee Friday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium to clinch a bid into next week's SEC Tournament in Hoover. Pitcher Derek Varnadore got the win to improve to 6-2 on the season after allowing four runs on 10 hits in six and two/thirds innings. With the victory Auburn improves to 29-26 on the season and 14-15 in SEC play and has the chance to play not only for a possible SEC Western Division title on Saturday but needs another win to ensure finishing over .500 this regular season.
