Ready For SEC
Arkansas (9-4) ended its non-conference slate riding a five-game winning streak, but knows things are about to get a little tougher. Still Arkansas freshman Jacorey Williams says downing Delware State and holding a second straight opponent to 51 points is a confidence booster heading into Wednesday's conference opener at Texas A&M (9-3). "It's a real confidence boost," Williams said. "Coach got everybody in and tried to get everybody ready for conference play, and I feel like everybody should come out with the excitement we had to tonight when we go away for conference play." Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson put his team through a tough non-conference late that had it 4-4 after losing at No. 2 Michigan – which is still undefeated. Are the Razorbacks ready to go on the road again? "We'll find out," Anderson said. "Michigan - we played in a tough venue against a very talented basketball team and we were right there with them with six minutes to go. Those games don't have anything to do with what's taking place but hopefully that experience is something we can use going into College Station and the different venues we are going to go into." Anderson does feel like this team is better suited to take on the road this season. "We have more weapons," Anderson said. "Last year those kids gave me everything they had but I think we were limited in some areas. Obviously this year maybe but we don't have the experience but we are better prepared. "But you have to go play the games," Anderson added. "We need to take that with us on the road and keep playing defense that does not put them on the line and continue taking care of the ball…if we can continue do this and rebound the basketball and create havoc with our defense, we'l have a chance to win a lot of games - whether it be here or on the road." Williams admits getting slapped in the face early by Arizona State, Wisconsin, Syracuse and Michigan was a good thing in the long run. "I feel like we got exposed early," Williams said. "I think (junior guard) Kikko (Haydar) mentioned it in an interview before ... we got exposed and it's good for us to see it early, so when we do go into conference play, we've corrected our mistakes." Freshman guard Anthlon Bell says his older teammates have talked to him about what is coming in SEC action. "That we've just got to play as a team," Bell said. "We can't have just one person trying to do everything. We've got to do everything as a team. Come out with intensity and one mindset going after the win."
