"Every time I've been to Michigan it felt like home, and that's just the place I want to be," Green said. "That's where my heart is telling me to be, (where) God (is telling me to be). I sat down with my parents to talk about it and Michigan is just the place for me."

Green was also considering Auburn and Tennessee. Both of those schools changed coaches after the 2012 season.

Michigan had long been thought the favorite for the bruising back out of Richmond, Va. Green is a powerful running back with short strides and quick feet.

It is an extremely deep year for running backs in the Class of 2013, but Green's combination of size, power, balance, and instincts made him the slight favorite for the No. 1 spot among the recruiting team over players such as Thomas Tyner, Derrick Henry, and Justin Davis, among others.

Green is Michigan's 27th public verbal commitment as we head towards Signing Day on Feb. 6. He joins three other five-star players in the commit class: quarterback Shane Morris, safety Dymonte Thomas, and offensive lineman Patrick Kugler.

The Wolverines were going to need some late additions to hold on to the top spot in the overall team rankings on Signing Day. Additions don't come much bigger than the No. 1 running back in the country in Green.
