Ashville (Ala.) High's E.J. Moss is in that group.
Already with offers from Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee among others, it is the camp performances f the 6-foot-4, 220 pounder that may play a big factor as to what position he may play at the next level.
"He's being recruited at quarterback and linebacker," said Kim Moss, E.J.'s mother.
The three-star has been told by Auburn extensively about playing linebacker, and that trend is growing among others in the SEC.
"I think Kentucky will do either (linebacker of quarterback), Ole Miss is as a linebacker," she said. "Alabama leans towards linebacker, but will look closer when he goes to camp on June 3.
"He has a lot of camps to go to, he's going to be really busy."
It has slowed the process for both parties.
"He's keeping all options open," Moss added.
Mom has been on every visit E.J. has of late, a process by design between the two of them.
"I've been to every place he's been to, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky...each of them have positive points. I wish I could take everything we like about about each place and roll it into one college," she said with a laugh. "Bottom-line is that E.J. has to be happy with the college he chooses and I want to feel comfortable leaving him there.
"It's a big decision."
Moss is currently ranked as the No. 32 quarterback on FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com, though his camp performances may lead to a change on where he is projected to play in college.
