Defensive Back Pushing For Playing Time
Auburn, Ala.--Although he doesn't receive nearly as much attention as many of the Auburn football team's other defensive backs, the man who matters is tuned in to how a junior safety is performing on the practice fields. "Andrew Letts is doing a great job," says Gene Chizik, Auburn's secondary coach and defensive coordinator. "I am proud of the job he is doing." The junior from Hinsdale, Ill., has improved steadily since arriving at Auburn as a walk-on who tried out for the football team as a wide receiver because the Tigers were looking for help in that area when he arrived as an invited walk-on. However, prior to spring training in 2003, Letts requested a move to defense, where he felt more comfortable, and earned praise from Chizik for his steady improvement as a safety that spring.
