"I committed to Ole Miss today," added Corey Gaines. "It had that homey feeling when I visited, and I have built a great relationship with all of those guys."

DL Coach Rocker left Ole Miss and went to Auburn which did make it tough on Gaines.

"I really like Coach Rocker a lot, and I appreciate how he recruited me. He is the reason I got interested in Ole Miss in the first place. I think he is one of the best defensive line coaches in the country, but I just felt more at home at Ole Miss. He did make it tough on me though. I was ready to commit to Ole Miss earlier. Coach Rocker made me think twice about it, but Ole Miss was just in my heart. I also like (DL) Coach Price at Ole Miss too. They are both great coaches, so I had to go with the school that felt most at home. The family atmosphere at Ole Miss was what sold me. Coach (Houston) Nutt and all the coaches are hands on and they really care about their players. Coach (Chris) Vaughn, who recruited me, was straight up with me the whole time. I liked that.""

Gaines played mostly offensive line his junior season where he graded out at close to 90 percent and had 48 pancakes blocks in the 2007 season. He turned the head of many college recruiters for the defensive tackle position when he collected a pair of sacks during the 2007 playoffs in limited action.

"The first part of my (junior) season, I played OL and when it cooled down, I went both ways so I did not wear down. I had 10 tackles and 2 sacks in the playoffs. I made 1st Team All-State in Class 3A and 1st Team All-Big Ben. I graded out at 88% and had 48 pancakes for the season."

Corey played both ways for Amos P. Godby (FL) this year but his main responsibilities were on offense.

"We had more depth on defense than we did on offense, so I just mainly went in on the big defensive downs. But towards the end of the year, I was playing a lot of defense. I have more experience on offense, but I think I am better suited for defense."

The Tallahassee native was offered by Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Colorado, Rutgers, South Florida, and Central Florida.

Gaines reports a 2.8 GPA / 17 ACT.
